PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker for accurately detecting the abnormality of a temperature detection means even when power fails in a high temperature state. SOLUTION: When a rice cooking button is pressed, temperature sensor abnormality detecting processing is started simultaneously with rice cooking processing. Whether or not a first detection temperature Q1 is equal to or lower than a first prescribed temperature P1 (60°C, for instance) is determined (S6). When it is determined that the first detection temperature Q1 is equal to or lower than the first prescribed temperature P1 (S6:YES), a difference between the first detection temperature Q1 and an initial detection temperature Q0 is calculated, and whether a difference is equal to or smaller than a prescribed valueΔγis determined (S7). When the difference is equal to or smaller than the prescribed valueΔγ, it is determined that the temperature sensor is abnormal. Further, when the first detection temperature Q1 is higher than the first prescribed temperature P1 (S6:NO), whether the difference is equal to or smaller than the prescribed valueΔγis not determined.
