<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply perform the cleaning of a light transmitting window while suitably preventing stray light such as secondary scattering light or the like to enable accurate measurement as a result. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This sample measuring instrument is equipped with a measuring cell 61, a light source 62 for irradiating the inside of the measuring cell 61 with inspection light L1 through the first light transmitting window M1 of the measuring cell 61, a transmitted light detector 63 for detecting the transmitted light L2 in the measuring cell 61 through the second light transmitting window M2 provided in opposed relation to the first light transmitting window M1 of the measuring cell 61, a scattering light detector 64 for detecting the scattering light L3 in the measuring cell 61 through the third light transmitting window M3 provided at a position different from the second light transmitting window M2 in the measuring cell 61, a plurality of shading plates 65 provided in the measuring cell 61 and forming a fanwise space toward the first, second and third light transmitting windows M1-M3, and a cleaning mechanism 66 for cleaning the first, second and third light transmitting windows M1-M3.
