Provided are a light source module and a display device in which both improved light extraction efficiency and uniform brightness distribution are achieved. According to the light source module, light reflected by a reflection plate (5) positioned at a second end plane (1B) of a light guide member (1) is considered, and the density of a diffusion structure (4) is increased from the position of a first end plane (1A) on which light from a light source (2) is incident to a position at least one-half of the dimension (L) in the light guide direction (X) of the light guide member (1), and is constant in the region which extends beyond the position of at least one-half of the dimension (L). Thus, the light extraction efficiency can be made at least the 80% required in practice, and the brightness distribution in the light guide direction (X) of the light can be made uniform.
