<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a select return mechanism for manual transmission in which the occurrence of a collision noise accompanying a select operation is prevented. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The select return mechanism of a manual transmission includes a return pin 2, which always contacts a shift lever 10, indirectly along the select direction via a shift lever housing 1 that is rocked in the select direction with the select direction operation of the shift lever 10 and which slides along the select direction according to the select operation; and first and second return springs 3, 4, which are arranged at either of one side and the other side of the select direction of the shift lever 1 and which freely energize a return load that acts on the return pin 2 toward the neutral position, in the directions opposing each other along the select direction.
