PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an image carrier protective agent that prevents cracks during formation, without using binder, even for a shape that has a large aspect ratio in a powder pressing method, and to provide a method for manufacturing an image carrier protective agent which is free from variations depending on the area. SOLUTION: After powdery or granular raw material 36 containing fatty acid metal salt is poured into a die, the raw material 36 is disposed so that the total weight of powder present in each of the areas H and H', located in 20% of the entire length of the die from its ends, becomes 95 to 30% of the total weights of powder present in an area B located in 20% of the entire length from the center of the die.
