CYLINDER LINER, CYLINDER BLOCK, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING CYLINDER LINER

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder liner having stable adhesiveness and bonding strength in an interface between the cylinder liner and a cylinder block body while suppressing the generation of a clearance therein, and to provide a cylinder block and a method of manufacturing a cylinder liner. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In an outside face 12 of the cast-iron cylinder liner 10, a plurality of peripheral grooves 15 are formed continuously in the peripheral direction by a first peripheral groove portion 16 which is sectionally J-shaped continuously in the peripheral direction and a second peripheral groove 18 sectionally J-shaped continuously from the first peripheral groove 16. When the cylinder liner 10 is cast in the aluminum alloy cylinder bock body 30, the peripheral grooves 15 suppress the movement of aluminum alloy molten metal to uniformly disperse residual stress which occurs during coagulation and shrinkage, thus preventing the crack of the cylinder bock body 30. In addition, the peripheral grooves 15 secure the adhesiveness and bonding strength in the interface B between the cylinder liner 10 and the cylinder block body 30. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
