<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a garnet single crystal in which the content of lead (Pb) is reduced; an optical element using the same; and a method for producing the garnet single crystal. <P>SOLUTION: A solution containing potassium (K), bismuth (Bi) and boron (B) as solvent is prepared, and then the garnet single crystal is grown by using the solution.
