The method involves acquiring two images e.g. two-dimensional images, of a body part of an individual in respective body part observation conditions, by using a photographic apparatus e.g. video camera, where the conditions are chosen such that the body part is differently subjected to Earth's gravity or to a force applied by a device, operator or the individual in the observation conditions. Variation in appearance of the observed body part is compared with reference data. Cutaneous relaxation degree of the body part is determined based on the comparison. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for cosmetic treatment of a body part of an individual (2) an atlas comprising two sequences of images of a body part of an individual.
