PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a hydroxylated fatty acid by using a biocatalyst. SOLUTION: The method for producing a hydroxylated fatty acid includes a step of introducing a hydroxy group into a fatty acid by using a biocatalyst containing a protein selected from (a) a protein of a Bacillus subtilis-derived CypC (cytochrome P450 family), (b) a protein that includes an amino acid sequence in which one or several amino acids are deleted, inserted, substituted, added or transferred in the sequence of the protein and has a fatty acid hydroxylation activity and (c) a protein that includes an amino acid sequence having ≥70% identity of the amino acid sequence of the protein and a fatty acid hydroxylation activity.
