Optical sensors in the pixel region on an active matrix substrate have a sensing period defined as a period from when a reset signal (RS) is supplied until a read signal (RW) is supplied, and read out a storage node voltage to an output wiring as a sensor circuit output, the storage node voltage being changed according to the light amount received by a light detection element during the sensing period.  The optical sensors have a sensor setup period being after a sensor data unnecessary period in which the sensor circuit output is not required and before a sensor data valid period in which the sensor circuit output is required and having the length of the sensing period or more.  The sensor circuit output from an optical sensor to which the reset signal is applied during the sensor setup period is read out during the sensor data valid period.
