<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exactly catch a sign of a fault of each part in an image forming part by collecting sound of the image forming part by the use of a sound collecting means and determining presence or absence of abnormality on the basis of the collected sound, and to improve safety by surely stopping drive of the image forming part if the sign of the failure is caught. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 forming an image on a medium includes: the image forming part configured to form the image; the sound collecting means configured to collect the sound of the image forming part; a state determination means configured to determine a state of the image forming part on the basis of the sound collected by the sound collecting means; a control means configured to control the drive of the image forming part on the basis of a result of determination by the state determination means; and an output means configured to output the result of determination by the state determination means on the basis of the result of determination. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
