<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing the generation of step-out or abnormal noise of a stepping motor when torque is varied due to connection/disconnection of a clutch. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a motor driving each of the devices and the clutch connecting the device to be driven with the motor. The image forming apparatus further includes a control part instructing the connection/disconnection of the clutch. The control part defines the first timing that is the timing earlier than the connection timing for performing the connection of the clutch by a prescribed time period, and increases a current provided to the motor at the first timing. The control part defines the second timing that is the timing later than the disconnection timing for performing the disconnection of the clutch by a prescribed time period, and decreases the current provided to the motor at the second timing.
