<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and inexpensive backlight illumination which has less illumination irregularity and a small thickness, illuminates a display element by using a smaller number of illuminating elements, and ensures the required size by connecting any number of unit members. <P>SOLUTION: A backlight illuminating apparatus illuminating a display element from its back face includes a light guide unit 30 having a light guide plate 302 that illuminates the display element from its back face and a prism 301 disposed on an end edge of the light guide plate 302 to guide illumination light from an LED 20 serving as a backlight illumination light source. The outline of the light guide unit 30 is configured in a way that a plurality of light guide units 30 adjacent to each other are arranged at the back face of the display element in a plane-filling shape almost densely filling the plane of the back face of the display element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
