PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drainage device and a drainage method capable of dispensing with a conventional drainage discharge pipe disposed under a hood, a duct and the like, improving hygiene management and efficiency in cleaning work, and reducing costs, in the drainage device for discharging dew condensation water and the like accumulated inside of ventilation equipment and air-conditioning equipment such as the hood and the duct. SOLUTION: A check valve 20 for blocking the flowing-out of the water in a water receiving part 2 by closing a valve element 21 by pressing force and allowing the water in the water receiving part 2 to flow out by opening the valve element 21 by external force, is disposed on a lower face of the water receiving part 2 of the exhaust hood 1, a drainage instrument 30 provided with a water receiving cylindrical section 32 and a rod-shaped projection 33 on a tip of a rod-shaped pipe 31, is used, and a worker holds the drainage instrument 30 by a hand and knocks up the same from underneath to open the valve element 21 of the check valve 20 with the rod-shaped projection 33, so that the water accumulated in the water receiving part 2 is received in the water receiving cylindrical section 32 through the check valve 20, and allowed to flow down inside of the pipe 31 and discharged to a floor surface, a drainage side ditch and the like.
