An electric lamp (10) having a lamp vessel (16) and a base part (12). The base part (12) has a mounting cavity. A partition member (28) is provided between the cavity and an opening of the lamp vessel (16). The partition member (28) has a thermal barrier coating (29) which effectively isolates the heat-generating parts in the lamp vessel (16) from the heat-sensitive parts in the base part (12).
