<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a decrease in brightness of a projection image or occurrence of color break thereof in an image projection device using a polarized light changing element controlling polarization directions of a plurality of color light beams. <P>SOLUTION: The image projection device includes: a plurality of light sources 111 to 113 emitting at least two color light beams respectively; the polarized light changing element 2 controlling the polarization directions of the respective color light beams; at least two optical modulation elements 41 and 42 modulating incident light; a light guide optical system 31 guiding at least two color light beams from the polarized light changing element to at least two optical modulation elements in accordance with the polarization directions thereof; and a projection optical system 5. One color light beam and the other color light beam out of at least two color light beams are respectively emitted as light beams having a different polarization direction from each other from the polarized light changing element. A driving means 6 turns on the plurality of light sources so that the one color light beam and at least one color light beam out of the other color light beams are simultaneously made incident on at least two optical modulation elements. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
