PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic compound from lower hydrocarbons by a catalytic reaction which is improved in the yields of hydrogen and the aromatic compound and keeps the catalyst activity stable.
SOLUTION: A metallosilicate supporting molybdenum or a molybdenum compound is carbonized to obtain a catalyst for converting the lower hydrocarbons to the aromatic compound. A reaction gas containing the lower hydrocarbons is brought into contact with the catalyst to produce the aromatic compound. Temperature is raised to catalytic reaction temperature while passing a non-oxidative gas (except hydrocarbon gases). When the catalytic reaction temperature is attained, the reaction gas is passed and brought into contact with the catalyst to obtain the aromatic compound such as benzene and naphthalene.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
