<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent forgetting to remove a burglar-preventing tag from merchandise and to prevent forgetting to update the stored content in the IC chip incorporated in the burglar-preventing tag, at the sale and purchase of the merchandise. Ž<P>SOLUTION: When processing the merchandise sales data based on the merchandise code outputted from a bar-code scanner (code scanner) 20, the system determines whether the merchandise code outputted from the bar-code scanner 20 includes information indicating presence of a burglar-preventing tag and the information is recorded in the recording area. If the merchandise code is associated with information indicating presence of a burglar-preventing tag, the system displays the information on the display device (informing device) 15.
