<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation of the electrical conductivity characteristics and optical properties of an organic EL device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An organic EL device D1 has a luminescent element U1, comprising a pixel electrode 14 formed on a substrate 10, a counter electrode 18 disposed on the pixel electrode 14, a luminescent function layer 16 arranged in between the pixel electrode 14 and the counter electrode 18. The counter electrode 18 includes a mixed layer 30 constituted of a mixture of an electron-injecting material and a reducing material for returning the electron injection material, and a transparent conductive layer 40 formed on the mixed layer 30.
