<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus of positioning control capable of accurately performing positioning of a moving machinery which is comparatively inexpensive and good in stability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the positioning control method, IC tags 3 in which absolute position information is written and whose number is the same as the number of a plurality target stop positions which can be set by the moving machinery 10 are each set between a deceleration starting point and a final braking point corresponding to each target stop position along a moving direction of the moving machinery, and an IC tag reader 4 for reading the absolute position information written in the IC tags is mounted in the moving machinery. The absolute position information written in the IC tags is read by the IC tag reader 4 before the present position of the moving machinery reaches the final braking point after passing through the deceleration starting point corresponding to the set target stop position, and the present position of the moving machinery is corrected based on the read absolute position information, then the moving machinery is braked and stopped when the corrected present position of the moving machinery reaches to the final braking point.
