PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for transmitting and receiving high speed feedback information in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to efficiently operates a high speed feedback channel with a limited resource by converting a mode of the high speed feedback channel according to a feedback information type. CONSTITUTION: A terminal determines a feedback information transmission point(1201). The terminal generates feedback information(1203). The terminal determines the transmission form of the feedback information(1205). The terminal compares the current high speed feedback channel with the BFCH mode(1207). The terminal transmits a bit stream including an active mode conversion display bit or code for conversion to the BFCH mode(1209). The terminal selects a code sequence corresponding to the feedback information(1211). The terminal transmits the BFCH using the code stream(1213).
