PROCESS FOR THE HYDROGENATION OF UNSATURATED FATTY ALKYL ESTER

PURPOSE: A method for hydrogenating unsaturated fatty alkyl ester is provided to prepare saturated fatty acid alkylester with iodine value of 0.1 or less used as a raw material of biodegradable detergent MES. CONSTITUTION: A method for hydrogenating unsaturated fatty alkyl ester comprise a step of preparing saturated fatty acid alkylester by hydrogenating C8-24 unsaturated fatty acid alkylester in the presence of a ternary metallic oxide catalyst represented by chemical formula 1: (NiO)_a·(MgO)_b·(Al_2O_3)_c. In the chemical formula 1, a, b and c represent the content based on the total weight of catalyst, wherein a is 50-80 weight%, b is 1-20 weight%, and c is 15-40 weight%.
