A retainer for interconnecting two parts, e.g. a cover strip (18) over a glazing strip (12, Fig. 3) or attaching a panel to a flat-bar (Fig. 11) or a wall lining to a wall (Figs. 9, 10) or two panels 29, 43, Fig. 8, comprises in this last embodiment two series of tongues each series comprising a plurality of support tongues 33-37, Fig. 7 or 38-42 of different lengths so that the engaging surfaces of the bosses on the tongues are staggered along the retainer. The retainer is inserted between flanges 30, 31 on one panel 29 and the tongues 33-37 engage with a boss on the end of the flange 30 while the tongues 38-42 engage with a boss on the flange 45 of panel 43, the staggering of the tongues along the retainer allowing greater tolerances on the bosses on the flanges 30, 45. The tongues may be arranged in pairs side by side, the pairs one behind the other being staggered along the retainer in relation to adjacent pairs (Figs. 9 and 10).</p> |
