PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus for performing gradation correction on a target image is provided to obtain an image of good quality without lowering the entire contrast of an image. CONSTITUTION: A gray correcting unit(61) performs a gray correction process including a process which lowers contrast in a processing target image. The gray correcting unit generates a corrected image about the processing target image. An adjustment data generating unit(62) obtains gray information showing relative brightness balance of each part in the processing target image. A CPU adjusts the brightness of the corrected image based on the gray information every pixel.
