<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for improving sugar content, preventing oxidation damage of fruits and vegetables after harvesting and improving sugar content; to provide a method for improving sugar content of fruits or vegetables; to provide fruits or vegetables improved in sugar content; to provide a material for adjusting sugar component; to provide a method for adjusting sugar component of fruits or vegetables; to provide fruits or vegetables adjusted in sugar content; to provide a material for adjusting taste; to provide a method for adjusting taste of fruits or vegetables; and to provide fruits or vegetables adjusted in taste. <P>SOLUTION: This material for improving sugar content is obtained by including polyphenol and glucide in a sheet-like base material having ventilation, permeability, and flexibility. The polyphenol includes proanthocyanidin, and is contained in the base material preferably at a ratio of 230-350 mg/m<SP>2</SP>.
