PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire adapted to ensure excellent snow performance while improving maneuvering stability on a wet road surface. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire, a pair of first main grooves 1 and 1 and a pair of second main grooves 2 and 2 each extending in a tire circumferential direction are formed on either side of a tire equator line of a tread surface 1, and five land sections are formed on the tread surface. The centers of these main grooves 1 and 1 are set at predetermined positions. In second land sections 12 and 12 divided by the first main grooves 1 and 1 and the second main grooves 2 and 2 lying on both sides thereof, a plurality of sub grooves 3 are formed which extend tiltedly in a tire width direction from the second main grooves 2 and 2 toward the first main grooves 1 and 1, and are curved in the opposite direction on the side of the first main grooves 1 and 1 and then terminated within the land sections. A length L of a central line of each of these sub grooves 3 is 1.25 to 1.75 times a pitch length P of the sub groove. The relationship among the length L, the pitch length P, and a width A of the second land section is L≥(P<SP>2</SP>+A<SP>2</SP>)<SP>1/2</SP>. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
