CUTTING TOOL AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool excellent in both of wear resistance and breakage resistance and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: This cutting tool includes a substrate 1 and a coating layer 2. The substrate 1 has a plurality of hard phases made of hard compounds and a binding phase for binding the hard phases with each other. The coating layer 2 is made of ceramics formed on a surface 1a of the substrate 1. The coating layer 2 has cracks 11 and 12 each of which has a width of≥50 nm and≤200 nm, a space of≥30μm and≤100μm, and a width of a configuration region of≥5.0μm and≤10.0μm, in a cross section along a normal line of the surface 1a of the substrate 1.
