<p>Vinyl ethers of perhalogenated alcohols have the formula (I) R1, R2 and R3 = F atoms, or perfluorocarbon or perfluorochlorocarbon groups in which the number of Cl atoms does not exceed one quarter of the number of F atoms. (I) are prepd. by chlorinating/brominating cpds. of formula (II) to give cpds. of formula (III) (where X is Cl or Br), and dehydrohalogenating (III) by treatment with a base in the presence of solvents or diluents. The base is pref. sodium methylate or a quat. ammonium cpd. The solvent is pref. dimethylsulphoxide, dimethylacetamide, tetrahydrothiophene-1,1-dioxide, or dimethylformamide.</p> |
