摘要 1,094,174. Code conversion. K. DIEHL. Feb. 14, 1966 [Feb. 17, 1965; Aug. 6, 1965], No. 6361/66. Heading G4B. A mechanism for the electro-mechanical conversion of binary coded values into decimal values comprises a coded wheel 4 provided at its periphery with four toothed portions 4a, 46, 4c, 4d having a number of teeth corresponding to the values of the selected binary code and which is capable of being revolved step-by-step through angles corresponding to the relevant toothed portions through a clutch 8, 10, 11, 12 capable of being released by timing impulses, said decoding wheel driving a secondary drive 27 which is capable through secondary clutch means 45 of adjusting storage elements 37 for storing the decimal values, the secondary clutch means being engaged by the action of switch mechanisms released electromagnetically by means of binary value impulses fed in series synchronously with the release of the clutch 8, 10, 11, 12 for the decoding wheel 4. If printing wheel 44 (Fig. 1b) is to be set to decimal value 5, i.e. binary 101, release lever 61 is operated via plunger 70 and a starting impulse is subsequently imparted to magnet 20 (Fig. 1a which releases clutch 8, 10, 11, 12 and shaft 3 carries out a partial revolution. At the beginning of the revolution of shaft 3 levers 48 (Fig. 1b are locked with adjacent arms 50 through pawls 64. When shaft 3 has rotated to allow rollers 48<SP>1</SP> to drop into the curved track. 83. of cam plates 49,. said levers 48 revolve anticlockwise and take with them arms 50. Clutch control bar 53 is displaced and turns arm 46 anticlockwise so that pinion 45 drops out of engagement with teeth 41. During this movement pawl 54 abuts at its shoulder 57 against ledge 58 and is turned against the tension of spring 56 and releases bar 53. At the same time nose 60 of release lever 61 has gripped flange 59 which allows lever 46 to be retained in the position illustrated in Fig. 1c (not shown). However, since the binary 1 has imparted an impulse to operate plunger 70 which turns lever 61, nose 60 is unable to maintain flange 59 in position. As shaft 3 continues to revolve, arms 50 and bar 53 return to their original position when rollers 48<SP>1</SP> are lifted out of track 83. Pinion 45 is thus pivoted back into wheel 31 and teeth 41. At the same time, stop 57 is released and pawl 54 drops on the bar 53. During the revolution locking disc 30 (Fig. 1a) unlocks brake disc 29 of shaft 27, the single tooth 4a of decoding wheel 4 engages pinion 28 and moves pinion 31, pinion 45 and teeth 41 of rack 37. At the same time, printing wheel 44 revolves by one unit via teeth 42 and gear 43. The binary value " 0 " is the next value to be decoded and in this ease lever 46 whose flange 59 is gripped by lever 61 when bar 53 is pivoted, is not now released when bar 53 is returned to its original position because lever 61 is not moved by plunger 70. Magnet 20 is however given a pulse so that clutch 8, 10, 11, 12 operates. The tooth portion 4b of decoding wheel 4 moves pinion 28, shaft 27 and pinion 31 by two units. Since however pinion 45 is disengaged from pinion 31 and teeth 41 of rack 37 no movement is transmitted (Fig. 1c). The next binary value corresponding to decimal value 4 is again. " 1 " and by a similar process printing wheel 44 is advanced 4 steps. As. illustrated in Fig. 2b (not shown) cam plate (89) has a bulge (89<SP>1</SP>) and lever (106) is turned clockwise at the beginning of the last partial revolution of shaft 3. This movement is transmitted via pin (103) and lever (102) to shaft (100) which release clutch follower pawl (94) through lever (99), Fig. 2c (not shown). Shaft 52 is thus coupled to pinion (90) and is turned clockwise. Cam plates (110), Fig. 2a (not shown), first turn levers (109) which via bars (111) release the printing hammers (not shown). Immediately on completion of the fourth partial revolution of shaft 3, the decimal values stored in series in toothed racks 37 and printing wheels 44 can be printed in all places simultaneously. In a modification, Figs. 3a to 3c (not shown), a 4-4-2-1 code is used.
