The organic EL device is characterized in that the organic EL device comprises a substrate and an organic EL element provided on the substrate, the organic EL element comprises a lower electrode, an organic EL layer, an upper electrode, and a protective layer, the protective layer is an SiON:H film, and, regarding peak area ratios in a stretching mode determined by infrared absorption spectrum measurement, the absorption area ratio of N-H bond to Si-N bond in the SiON:H film is more than 0.05 and not more than 0.07, and the absorption area ratio of Si-H bond to Si-N bond is not more than 0.15. |
