<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gas sensor which is less apt to develop element cracks, when receiving an external force. <P>SOLUTION: The gas sensor includes a gas sensor element 2 inserted and fixed to a housing 10 via an element-side insulator 21; a cylindrical measured gas-side cover 11 arranged at the tip side of the housing 10; a cylindrical atmospheric-side cover 3 arranged at the base end side of the housing 10; and an atmospheric-side insulator 22, arranged to cover the base end side of the gas sensor element 2 inside the atmospheric-side cover 3.
