<p>In a case of using a display device of a wide color gamut to perform an image display based on an image signal complying with a standard (sRGB standard or the like) the color reproduction range of which is narrower than that of the display device, a problem of a hue deviation with respect to a red color having an intermediate color saturation can be solved, while taking full advantage of a display device's merit of being able to display a vivid red color having a high color saturation. An image processing circuit (2) corrects a color within a predetermined range of colors to be corrected that partially includes a red hue reference range located in a central portion of a constant-hue color range extending from an achromatic color, which is the lowest color saturation in an extended color reproduction range, to a red color having the highest color saturation in the extended color reproduction range and that does not include the red color having the highest color saturation in the extended color reproduction range. At this moment, the image processing circuit (2) corrects the foregoing color such that the hue thereof changes to a hue located nearer to a yellow color in the extended color reproduction range and further that the hue of the red hue reference range changes to a hue of a red color in the color reproduction range of the sRGB standard and still further that the amount by which the hue changes to the hue located nearer to the yellow color is smaller for a color located farther from the red hue reference range in the extended color reproduction range than for a color located nearer to the red hue reference range in the extended color reproduction range.</p> |
