PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly guide the distal end of the paper between rollers without strongly pushing the paper from the backward even if the distal end of the paper enters the roller with a large entry angle by a restoring force of the paper in a curved paper conveying path. SOLUTION: A reverse roller 50 driven by a motor and an assist roller 51 being driven for rotation are provided on the curved paper conveying path. A plurality of grooves 51 extending in a roller lengthwise direction are formed along an outer peripheral direction at a constant interval on the outer peripheral surface of the assist roller 51. The distal end Pa of the paper entering between the reverse roller 50 and the assist roller 51 abuts on the assist roller 51 by the restoring force, is smoothly guided at a nip point with the reverse roller 50 by the groove 51b, and can be smoothly guided between rollers without pushing the paper from the backward.
