PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering mechanism that prevents hairpin slip in a long freight vehicle composed of a tractor and a trailer. SOLUTION: With a means for applying operating force of a brake chamber (K) provided at a front end of the trailer directly to operating force of an adjuster rod or a disk brake of wheels, a difference between the tractor and the trailer in braking time is eliminated thereby to prevent the hairpin slip. When a tractor-trailer, which has a bell crank-type king pin with a lever, turns to the right, the bell crank viewed from the trailer effectively provides a right-handed rotation because a right-handed twist acts on the bell crank by action of the lever and a torque is generated. By providing a rotational-power transmitting mechanism formed by connecting a steel bar to the bell crank, the generated torque is applied to operating power for the steering mechanism of rear wheels of the trailer, and the hairpin slip is prevented by the action of the lever.
