<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid speed-down (throughput-down) in image formation when continuously passing a compact sheet narrower than a sheet width passed normally in a fixing device for fixing toner images formed on the sheet of an image forming apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus arranges a radiation heat absorber with a high heat absorption rate (close to an ideal black radiator) by being opposed to an over-heating part without passing the sheet since heat of heated parts without any sheet is dissipated, and dissipates heat of the heated parts with the radiation heat absorber when continuously passing the compact sheet.
