The method involves providing a model (202) of a coolant channel, and enclosing the model with a heat sink material i.e. aluminum, for forming a heat sink. The model is removed from the heat sink for forming the coolant channel in the heat sink. The model is made of molding material i.e. sand, where the model has a recess (210) for forming a device for swirling the coolant flowing in the coolant channel. An independent claim is also included for a heat sink with a coolant channel.
