PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video-signal processing device that facilitates manual focus adjustment. SOLUTION: An image pickup device includes: an image pickup means that receives light from a subject through an optical system so as to output a video signal by photoelectrically converting the light; a signal processing part that executes signal processing to the video signal so as to output the processed video signal; a focus position detecting means for detecting a focus position of the optical system; a field-depth detecting means for detecting a field depth of the optical system; a ranging means for measuring a distance to the subject; and a control part that determines whether or not the subject is in focus on the basis of the focus position, the field depth, and the distance and controls the signal processing part so as to allow it to execute stronger contour enhancement processing to the video signal when the subject is in focus than the case that the subject is out of focus.
