<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric usable as a protective nonwoven fabric or the like for glasshouses or the like because of having characteristics excellent in the piercing resistant value, bulking characteristics and air permeation resistance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The nonwoven fabric is a staple nonwoven fabric comprising a highly functional fiber as a main component and having a 100-3,000 g/m<SP>2</SP>weight, and has 100-1,000 g piercing resistance value, 15-50% compressibility and 0.1-30 cm<SP>3</SP>/cm<SP>2</SP>/s air permeability.
