1,079,939. Reciprocating pumps. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. Dec.7, 1964, No.49749/64. Heading F1A. A well pump for liquids mixed with gases comprises two bucket pistons 1, 2 connected by hollow member 3 and reciprocated by a pump rod 15 which is encircled by delivery valve 13, the stroke volume of the suction chamber 10 being larger than that of the compression chamber 9. The bucket valve 7 is optional. Chamber 10 is formed by the well tubing 21, and chamber 9 by a cylinder liner 19. Alternatively, both chambers may be formed by cylinder liners of different diameters. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the suction chamber comprises spaces (44) and (33), liquid entering and leaving space (33) via ports (32) in connecting member (28). Either chamber (30) or all three chambers may be formed by the well tubing. In Fig. 8 (not shown), three suction chambers (81), (88) and (101) have separate, valve-controlled inlets and deliver to a common compression chamber (97). In other embodiments, either chamber (88) or chamber (101) does not function as a suction chamber. Cylinder and valve mountings 20 and 14 incorporate resilient fingers, Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown) for removably securing them in the well tubing. Valve 13 may be spring-loaded, Fig. 11 (not shown), or may be replaced by a valve having a separate seating ring, Fig. 12 (not shown). |
