<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display medium of a particle moving type in gaseous phase, which have sufficient density, can display an image having high contrast, even after display changes are performed many times, and can display uniform image without causing display unevenness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the image display medium, wherein positive charging colored particles A and negative charging colored particles B, having a color different from that of the positive charging particles A are interposed between at least a display substrate, and at least a pair of electrodes and an electric field is applied between the pair of electrodes to perform display; and an insulating layer is coated on the surface of the pair of electrodes and a relation of a frictional charge order of the positive charging colored particles A, the negatively charging particles B and the insulating layer satisfies the formula: (the positively charging colored particles A > the insulating layer > the negatively charging colored particles B).
