Optical sensor (1) comprises a photoelectric image scanning sensor unit (2) with semiconductor layers impinged with a variably adjusted blocking voltage (Vs). The scanning sensor has a filter unit for multiple scanning of the same image section with different adjustable blocking voltages and for determining a scanning signal (AS) for each image section from the signal (S) of the scanning sensor obtained by the multiple scanning with different blocking voltages. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining images sections of an image using the above sensor. Preferred Features: The optical sensor has an optical filter element adjustably arranged in front of the scanning sensor unit. The filter unit is arranged to vary the filter coefficient of the filter element.
