摘要 1,204,598. Moulding articles from pulp. AMERICAN CAN CO. 5 Nov., 1968 [7 Dec., 1967], No. 52274/68. Heading B5A. Fibrous plant growth articles comprising a series of upstanding apertured blocks joined at one end by an easily breakable fibrous mat (see Fig. 1, not shown) are made in moulds the cavities of which are subdivided into separate compartments, each having at least two but not all of its defining surfaces foraminous, the subdividing means being shorter than the depth of the cavities. In the example illustrated in the Figure, one such mould consists of non- foraminous side and end walls 24, 26, 20, 22 mounted by suitable clamps upon a rotary wheel frame 62, 68, the base 32 of the mould being formed by a plate perforated at 40 and provided with a longitudinally extending divider bar 34 of a height less than the depth of the mould cavity. The divider bar is perforated at 38, 40 and 58 and both the bar and the base 32 are covered by a screen 42. The spaces either side of the divider bar are subdivided into compartments by transverse non-foraminous divider plates 48 and each compartment thus formed is provided with a core pin 52. The article formed in the mould is compressed to expel any residual liquid by a reciprocable non-perforated compression plate 84 and then this compressed article is removed by a plate similar to 84 but having suction parts.
