Conjugates of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and poly (ethylene glycol)

Provided is a conjugate consisting of an insulin-like growth factor-l (IGF-1) variant and poly(ethylene glycol) (pEG), characterized in that said IGF-1 variant has amino acid alteration(s) at amino acid positions 27, 37, 65, 68 of the wild-type IGF-l amino acid sequence so that one or more of amino acids 37, 65, 68 is/are lysine(K), amino acid 27 is a polar amino acid but not lysine, and said PEG is conjugated to said IGF-l variant via primary amino group(s). Further provided are corresponding IGF-1 variants and uses of the composition in the manufacture of a medicament for AlzheimerÆs disease.
