A method for treating a subsurface formation comprises using heaters to form a heated portion of the subsurface formation; using a production conduit to direct formation fluid in a vapour phase from the heated portion of the subsurface formation towards a surface of the subsurface formation; forming condensate of the vapour phase formation fluid in or near the production conduit; and diverting condensate of the vapour phase formation fluid to a location below the heated portion of the formation.
