PURPOSE: An apparatus for blocking a gas leakage of a converter is provided to semi-permanently seal the gap between a hood floor and a hood flange and to prevent thermal damage to the sealing part. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for blocking a gas leakage of a converter comprises a hood floor(100) which is formed close to a hood and has a receiving groove(120) containing cooling water(W), a hood flange(300) which is installed on the lower side of the hood and has a sealing groove(320) formed along the perimeter of the hood, and a blocking unit(500) which is installed between the hood floor and the hood flange and able to move up and down. An immersion breaker(520) is formed on the bottom of one side of the blocking unit, and a contact breaker(560) is installed on the bottom of the other side.
