<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape reel advantageous for securing dimension accuracy after formation, and a magnetic tape cartridge including the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The tape reel for winding a tape thereon includes a hub 11 including a bottom part 12 and a cylindrical part 11a protruded from the bottom part 12. In the bottom part 12, a gear 13 is formed in the peripheral direction of the cylindrical part 11a. In the bottom part 12, a first hole 15 is formed inside the cylindrical part 11a. A second hole 30 is formed between the gear 13 and the inner wall surface of the cylindrical part 11a of the bottom part 12. By adding the second hole 30, contraction toward the center of the hub 11 is blocked, and contraction of an outer portion is suppressed by the second hole 30, thereby securing advantage for securing dimension accuracy after formation.
