PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having a transfer section for suppressing the spreading out of a nip region of a transfer electric field even when a rotator rotating oppositely is a roller. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus has the transfer section for transferring a toner image formed on an image carrier onto a transfer material while conveying the transfer material with a nip section formed by the rotating member rotating oppositely. In the transfer section, at least one of the rotating member rotating oppositely is a hollow roller, and has a voltage applying member that is butted on a region close to the nip section on the inner surface of the hollow roller.
