The vehicle (10) has an air filter system provided with an air inlet opening (14), and arranged in an engine compartment (44). The air filter system comprises an unfiltered air region (24) that is formed by an air duct (16) and a filtered air region (28) with a filtered air outlet opening that is connected directly or indirectly to a combustion chamber of an engine. The unfiltered air region and the filtered air region are separated by an air filter (26), where the unfiltered air region has an unfiltered air outlet opening (46) that is opened into the engine compartment. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling an engine compartment of a motor vehicle.
