PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening/closing device having a mechanical obstacle detection structure being not easily and adversely affected by power supply failure or the like and having excellent durability. SOLUTION: This opening/closing device is constituted to be in a tensile force increased condition in which a string-like member is sandwiched between a first movable member 94 and a second movable member 95 and is pulled upward in accordance with upward travel of a movable seat plate 12 and a tensile force reduced condition in which an interval between both of the movable members 94 and 95 is extended and tensile force of the string-like member is reduced in accordance with downward travel of the movable seat plate 12. Either or both of the first movable member 94 and the second movable member 95 are provided with recessed and projecting face parts 94a, 95a being brought into pressure-contact with the string-like member when this opening/closing device is in the tensile force increased condition and projecting parts 94c, 95c protruding onto a string-like member side more than the recessed and projecting face parts 94a, 95a and being brought into slide-contact with the string-like member when this opening/closing device is in the tensile force reduced condition.
