<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heterocyclic ring-containing aromatic compound which can be a precursor of an electroconductive polymer which has outstanding conductivity, heat resistance, weatherability, solvent dissolvability, molding workability, and transparency. <P>SOLUTION: The heterocyclic ring-containing aromatic compound is represented by formula: A-B. In the formula, A represents a substituted or unsubstituted thiophene ring group or a substituted or unsubstituted pyrrole ring group, and B represents a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon-type aromatic ring group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiophene ring group, or a substituted or unsubstituted pyrrole ring group. The ring represented by A is bonded directly to the ring represented by B. In this case, A and B are different from each other in structure.
